Anegada is our Favorite Island

Amanda and I make no secret about it. Anegada is our favorite island. We have really enjoyed ourselves every time we have visited. As it is a bit out of the way, Anegada tends not to be as crowded as some of the other destinations. And there are no giant chain resorts on every wonderful beach. Simply great little beach bars and restaurants at different spots around the island that are super fun. The whole island has a very relaxed and friendly vibe that we truly enjoy. It is hard to beat being the only people walking on a long, deserted beautiful beach. Just so cool!

The Beach Bar at Cow Wreck Bay

We last visited in November and once again, we were not disappointed. We used BoatyBall to reserve a mooring and eliminated any angst about getting a mooring ball. We took the tender ashore and tied up to the dinghy dock. All super easy and that is where the fun began.

Our Trusty Scooter with Windlass Bay in the Background

After a quick stop at Potters to make our Lobster dinner reservation, we ambled up the street to secure a ride. Our group was torn as some wanted to rent the Mini Mokes and some wanted scooters. Amanda and I love the scooters, so we walked down to Amazing Rentals and picked out a good one. With our ride secured, we were off to explore. Freedom!

The Cow Wreck and Detour Crews

We made our way straight to Cow Wreck Bay. One of the prettiest beaches we have encountered, Cow Wreck Bay is long and sweeping with a protective reef. I had the fish burrito for lunch and it was great! The Conch Fritters are also excellent. The bar and restaurant are family owned and boasted pictures of the owners with Sir Richard Branson and the Obama Family. However, they were more than happy to take a photo with Amanda and me as well. If we did not want to visit more spots, we could have spent all day at the bar, beach, and gift shop.

We really like the Anegada Beach Club. The restaurant is very good and last time we came for dinner, the owner himself, drove us to and from Setting Point. We had a great visit. They have a beautiful line of elevated huts/bungalows that overlook the beach and I think they would be an amazing place to spend three or four days on a longer visit. On my next visit, I plan to take kite surfing lessons as they have a little school at the beach. Amanda and I sipped a drink and watched others take lessons. It was very fun!

The Flash of Beauty Bar

Next, we took our scooter to the Flash of Beauty Bar. It sits on another amazing beach on the Northeast side of the island. It was interesting talking to the owner. She was born and raised on Anegada and in her 60’s. She said she was getting tired of looking at the same old beautiful beach every day and wanted to see other places. Namely, visit her sister in Philadelphia. We thoroughly enjoyed the view, the drinks, and the visit. I hope she gets to visit Philadelphia in the winter. I think she might appreciate Anegada just a little bit more.

The day always goes way too quick in Anegada. And sadly, we normally only manage to visit half the places we plan out. Soon it was time to meet up with the crew at the Anegada Reef Hotel Bar. A great place to watch the sunset, you also get to write your name on the ceiling, wall, or wherever you can find a spot.

Anegada Sunset next to Potters

Finally, it was time for dinner at Potters. The lobsters were grilled and delicious! We had a great time sharing what everyone‘s free time adventures. After a little dancing, it was time to get back to the boat and head to bed. Another great Anegada adventure!
