Great News for BVI - USA Travel!

coastiebob

The United States no longer requires a COVID test prior to entry. If there was one part of traveling to the British Virgin Islands that I dreaded, it was the required COVID test prior to returning to the United States. Regardless of one’s COVID testing beliefs, figuring out how to make that happen was a real inconvenience. Especially when sailing island to island in the Caribbean! At first it was very difficult. A trip to a clinic or having a mobile test brought to you was the order of the day and very expensive! The inconvenience was mitigated somewhat by remotely proctored tests that you could bring with you, but there were always lingering thoughts in the back of my mind: Was the temperature acceptable for the tests all week? Were any of the tests faulty? Were we one inaccurate test from all being quarantined at Maria’s by the Sea for 10 days? Could be worse I guess…….

Well, good news! Officially, as of June 12, 2022, the return testing is no more. You can sail and have fun to your heart’s content knowing that you will indeed be allowed to return to the United States following your vacation. Which is good and bad news all wrapped up in one depending on how you look at it.
